Asch is a town in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is a part of the municipality of Buren, and lies about 9 km northwest of Tiel. In 2001, the town of Asch had 176 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 0.048 km², and contained 71 residences.〔Statistics Netherlands (CBS), (''Bevolkingskernen in Nederland 2001'' ). (Statistics are for the continuous built-up area).〕 The statistical area "Asch", which also can include the peripheral parts of the village, as well as the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 400.〔 Areas "Asch" and "Verspreide huizen Asch".〕 According to the 19th-century historian A.J. van der Aa, Asch was founded before 1405. In World War II, an Allied forward air base was at Asch.
